Beauty Favorites

IMG_2467

My husband always tells me that I shop like I’m a millionaire when it comes to makeup or beauty products…. Anyone else find it so easy to blow a bunch of money on make up?! If the Nordstrom’s cashier said the total for my clothes was $250 I would be hesitant and seriously consider putting something back, but at Sephora my inner dialogue says “Okay, no big deal!” *swipe*. I tend to use my profession as my justification for buying limitless beauty products 🙂 I have had a few requests to share my all-time favorite “Holy Grail” products. Even though I am always trying new products, these are the ones that have been the most consistently repurchased and used in my daily make up routine. If you have any specific questions about these products please do not hesitate to comment or shoot me an email!

Face

My favorite face primer is the Dr. Brandt “Pores No More” pore refiner primer. This primer mattes shine and minimizes pore visibility. I find that it works well on ALL skin types since I use it on my clients. Its velvety finish makes your skin look and feel smoother, making your make up go on flawlessly!

On a normal day I like to wear a CC cream rather than a heavy foundation, especially in the summer. My favorite CC cream is the IT Cosmetics “Your Skin But Better CC Cream”. This product gives a full/flawless coverage while also improving your skin’s texture and hydration. It is SPF 50 and is packed with anti-aging ingredients that are clinically proven to improve skin of all ages. I love that my skin is benefitting from the cream while my imperfections are covered!

If I am going out or dressing up for a special occasion, I usually want a little heavier makeup and wear a fuller coverage foundation. I absolutely LOVE the finish of this Marc Jacobs “Re(marc)able” full coverage foundation. Let me tell you right now… a little goes a LONG way with this product. I can cover my whole face with about 4 small dots. It is oil-free and completely covers pores and imperfections with a thin layer that lasts up to 24 hours.

My favorite concealer is the Urban Decay “Naked Skin” concealer. This is the most natural full-coverage concealer I have ever used! I absolutely love this for my under eye area. I like to get this a shade or two lighter than my skin color and use it to brighten areas on my face as well as under the eyes. It’s weightless high-tech liquid formula that never settles into fine lines! I also use this as my eyeshadow primer.

After putting on all these liquids, you have to set it with a powder to lock it in place. The Givenchy “Poudre Premiere Mat & Translucent-Finish Loose Powder” is my favorite! My bestie Cate introduced me to this before a Christmas party and the second I used it I was SOLD. It is definitely pricey… but very worth it! I’ve had mine since the middle of December and am still using it. This products gives the skin the most flawless/naturally radiant complexion! You can also “bake” your face with it. I will say that if you are considering splurging on any of these products I am mentioning, take a chance with this one because it will not disappoint!

I have been using the Hourglass “Ambient Bronzer” for about six months now, and it has become my all-time favorite bronzer. This bronzer gives you the most perfect natural-looking sun kissed glow. It is an illuminating bronzer which is what gives it such a radiant look! I personally do not like illuminating bronzers with heavy sparkles or glitters in them. This bronzer has a very subtle illumination giving your skin more of a healthy glow.

For contouring, I like to use a matte bronzer that isn’t too warm. The Nars “Laguna Bronzer” is always my go-to when it comes to contouring. In the description online it says that this bronzer has golden shimmer in it, but in my opinion, it is more matte.

My favorite blush is the famous blush by Nars “Orgasm”. It is the most perfect pinky-peach color. This blush is repeatedly a makeup artist and beauty editor favorite. It is also a universal shade that looks great on all skin tones!

The highlighter I have been using is the Laura Gueller “Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator” in the color ‘Gilded Honey”. I like to pop this on my cheek bones, on the tip of my nose, and on my cupids bow to give them that perfect glow.

The Kat Von D “Shade to Light” eye shadow pallet and Too Faced “Peaches” eyeshadow pallet are my 2 current favorite pallets! I have a lot of eyeshadow pallets… But these are the ones that have been my favorites lately. The pigmentation is great, and the colors blend out perfectly! Unfortunately, the Peaches pallet is currently sold out. But keep your eyes peeled for a restock! I will insert pictures of the shadows to show you the colors.

I also love this little eye shadow duo by bareMinerals- “READY 2.0” Pallet called “The Top Shelf”. It contains the most perfect champagne & gold color. Sometimes I even mix the two together! If I am in a hurry I will just put this all over my lid, add some mascara, and I’m good to go. I always get compliments when I wear it! Sorry I didn’t get a picture of this one 🙁

My all-time favorite liquid eye liner is the Stila “Stay All Day” liquid liner. This liner is super black, pigmented, and doesn’t budge throughout the day! It has a pointed felt tip to create that perfect cat eye look.

I also love this eye liner by Mirabella “Eye Definer“ in the color ‘Bronze’. I like to use this product for my bottom eye liner! Very rarely do I ever wear black on my bottom liner, unless a specific look calls for it. This color is more natural, but still defines the eyes with great pigmentation!

I have never been as happy with an eyelash curler as I am with the Tarte eyelash curler! My lashes are basically non-existent. This being said, the Tarte curler gives them a little more curl. For mascara, I always end up going back to the Loreal “Voluminous” mascara in Carbon Black. This mascara is a classic! Growing up I remember always watching my mom put this mascara on when she would do her make up. I have purchased pricey high end mascaras, but I always go back to this $8 one!

And now for the final, yet most important, part of the eyes… the brows! Good eyebrows are very important to me. Even when I am wearing little or no makeup, I will still fill in my brows. My favorite brow product is the Anastasia “Brow Wiz” because it is very natural looking. The spooly at the end is just perfect for brushing out the brow hairs and blending out the product on the eyebrows.

Lips

 (Favorite Lip Combo)

For lips, my fav combo is Charlotte Tilbury matte revolution lipstick “Very Veronica” & the ‘Lip Cheat’ lip liner “Iconic Nude”. This really isn’t solely a “March Favorite”, it is my all-time favorite lip combo! I get the most compliments and questions asked about this combo. I would describe this color as a taupe nude. The matte revolution lipstick has a long-lasting, hydrating formula. The ‘Lip Cheat’ lip liner is rich, velvety, and lasts up to six hours with its no-smudge, water proof formula. I will share a picture of the lip color on me!

If you made it through this lengthy post… Congrats!! I hope you enjoyed learning about some of my favorite beauty products. I know some of these products are pricey, but I wouldn’t recommend them if I didn’t think they were worth the splurge. I am thinking about doing a post over my favorite drugstore beauty products for those who are ballin’ on a budget. Please let me know if that is something y’all would like! I haven’t always been able to afford some of the products I have mentioned, so I definitely have some drug store beauty favorites that came in handy in college that I sometimes still use now!

Xoxo,

Rachel
