Last week I shared the experience Madi and I had at Cavalry Court, and this week I am back to share the experience we had right next door at The George! They are both completely different hotels, yet are both fabulous in their own unique ways. With it’s authentic Texas charm, The George hotel brings a sophisticated flair to good ol’ College Station. It is located right in the middle of Century Square, which is a beautiful new area offering a variety the city’s best retail, dining and entertainment hot spots!

You guys…. This room was AMAZING! We got to stay in a suite which had a living area, kitchenette, bedroom area, and this gorgeous bathroom. The rooms feature a refined rustic/masculine vibe. Once we walked in the room we could immediately smell a subtle scent of cologne which I LOVED. It took me back to the days of shopping in Abercrombie & Fitch, haha! Come to find out, they actually sell this signature scent in a candle down by the lobby. The George provided a complimentary bottle of champagne in celebration of their one year anniversary! We used it to enjoy some mimosas the next morning 🙂
1791 Whiskey Bar
Whether you are staying the night at The George or not, you HAVE to try the 1791 Whiskey Bar. All of their bartenders are experienced mixologists that make some of the best drinks I have ever had. Every cocktail is literally an experience! I’m not a whiskey fan, but my husband Blake says they made him the best old fashion he has ever had (he is super picky with his old fashions). My favorite cocktails to order there is the litmus test, and a traditional daiquiri (looks kinda like a martini). Even though Blake and I live in Houston now, anytime we come back to College Station to visit family he always requests to come here for drinks!
Poppy restaurant is also an experience in itself! It is a “Farm to Fire” restaurant that features a unique menu that changes weekly. The ingredients are either locally-sourced, small-batched, or seasonal. Poppy consists of small plates, each with 4oz of protein, which encourages everyone to explore the menu and try multiple dishes. The atmosphere is absolutely stunning!! The perfect evening would consist of having dinner at Poppy, then head to the 1791 Whiskey Bar for after dinner drinks.
